Observations of asteroid occultations by the method of temporal unsqueezing their images

Abstract: 

We describe the method of temporal unsqueezing CCD-images for observations of asteroid occultations. The method was applied for observations of nine asteroid occultations with the telescope AZT-8 (D = 0.7 m, F = 2.8 m) and CCD ST-8 XME at the Lisnyky observational station in 2006. The distance between the centres of the asteroid and star and time of asteroid occultation were determined only for the occultation of the star TYC 0587-00209-IU by asteroid 76 Freia have obtained on 4 November 2006. Besides, in the assumption of spherically symmetric shape of asteroid 76 Freia, its size was determined. For other asteroids we found the minimal distances between their centres and stars. The method allows one to observe asteroid occultations with high time resolution.
