Galaxy triplets in the Local Supercluster. 1. Kinematical and virial properties

Abstract: 

We consider kinematical and virial properties of a sample of triple systems in the Local Supercluster (LS) with radial velocities less than 3000 km/ s selected from the LEDA Data Base. The sample consists of 176 triplets of galaxies selected by Karachentsev's criterion (1994). We derived the median values of galaxy velocitiy dispersion with respect to the center Sv = 30 km/s, harmonic radius Rh = 160 kpc, virial mass MVir = 3.6 ⋅ 1011 M, and MVir/L = 35M/L. Although we used different selection criteria, the general properties of triplets of all studied samples are in good agreement. As this takes place, the LS triplets show the least mass-to-light ratio in comparison with other samples of galaxy triplets.
