Abstract: An algorithm for automatic normalization on continuum for echelle spectra of stars is proposed. For continuum normalization, we use a flat field spectrum whereby the blaze function of the device is derived and the mechanism of its transformation into response function for each order of echelle spectrum is determined. This approach allows one to take into account the hardware distortions contributed by echelle spectrograph and to automate the process of continuum normalization. Besides, the approach under discussion permits us to solve one of the main problems, namely, continuum normalization for the orders containing hydrogen lines. |
