Abstract:

The ground-based optical observations made during the partial (42% of the solar disk diameter) solar eclipse on 1 August 2008 and the analysis of the dynamics of associated effects at the air-Earth boundary near the Kharkiv city are compared with effects of the solar eclipses observed on 11 August 1999 and 3 October 2005. All three solar eclipses occurred around midday. The rms value of the solar limb during the eclipses on 3 October 2005, 1 August 2008 and 11 August 1999 is revealed to decrease by 0.13, 0.30 and 0.68 arcsec at the maximum of visible solar surface coverage of 0.13, 0.31 and 0.73, respectively. The atmospheric temperature at the air-Earth boundary was decreased by 1.3, 2.0 and 7.3 K. The time lags of σS and tα decreases were about 15 and 5 min, respectively.
